Holbox

Holbox is a small island on the Northwest tip of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. It stands between the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.

Holbox is integrated in the 'Area Natural de Protección de flora y fauna de Yum-Balam'. In other words, this island is protected.
The long white-sand beaches that stretch for more than 25 miles, and the peaceful clear water of the sea have remained untouched till now. There live and breed sea turtles, dolphins, big colonies of flamingos, pelicans and hundred of different species of birds that contributes to make Holbox a paradise for bird and dolphin watchers.
Holbox is also known for its abundance of several species of fishes and lobsters, making it a paradise for fishermen and divers.
These last years, tourism has timidly started in this island mainly populated by fishermen. In this undiscovered paradise, there are no discos, no cars, no banks, no shopping malls, but lovely little restaurants on the beach, romantic palapas, miles of unspoiled beaches, breathtaking sunsets and to top all this, a remarkably friendly and charming population.
